Lagos (Nigeria), Dec 5: The Tulu-speaking community in Lagos, Nigeria, is set to come together on Saturday, December 7, at the Cilantro Hotel, Lagos, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Tulu Koota Nigeria. This milestone event highlights the unity and cultural vibrancy of Tuluvas residing in Nigeria.
Prominent guests from Tulunadu, Walter Nandalike, founder of Daijiworld, and Tulunada Manikya Aravind Bolar, star of Daijiworld TV’s immensely popular Tulu comedy series ‘Private Challenge’, will grace the occasion, adding excitement and charm to the celebrations.
Sunder Kotian, Ramappa Poojari, Ajith Chowta, Sadananda Melanta are the founding members of Tulu Koota.
One of the founding members of Tulu Koota Nigeria, shared his enthusiasm for the event, stating, "The silver jubilee celebration of Tulu Koota is a moment of pride for all Tulu-speaking community members, who hail from the Dakshina Kannada region of Karnataka, India. Tulunadu, known for its rivers, mountains, stunning beaches, and rich cultural heritage, is often referred to as 'the cradle of Indian banking and education.”
Established in 2000, Tulu Koota Nigeria celebrates the essence of Tulunadu with grandeur and a strong cultural connection to their roots during their annual day celebrations. “We showcase traditional programs, folklore, and dance performances that offer a delightful experience for both young and old,” says another founding member.
The association also engages in various welfare initiatives that benefit both Tulunadu and Nigerian communities. These include organizing blood donation camps, supporting schools, and aiding the underprivileged.
The silver jubilee event promises to be a day of nostalgia, cultural celebration, and camaraderie, reaffirming the Tulu community’s unity and commitment to preserving their heritage miles away from their homeland.
