MP Kota Srinivas Poojary meets Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri to address CNG shortage

Media Release

Udupi, Dec 5: MP Kota Srinivas Poojary meets Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri to address the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) shortage.

Udupi district is grappling with a severe shortage of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), causing significant distress to auto-rickshaw drivers and other CNG vehicle owners. The scarcity has forced vehicle owners to wait for extended periods at CNG filling stations, disrupting their daily livelihoods.

MP Kota Srinivas Poojary met with Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and submitted a memorandum seeking intervention of the central government and to resolve the problem.

During the meeting, the MP highlighted that while Udupi district has a daily demand of 21,000 kg of CNG, only 14,000 kg is being supplied. Despite the operation of eight CNG filling stations in the district, the shortfall is causing persistent issues for users. He urged the minister to approve additional CNG filling stations and direct relevant companies to ensure the full supply of CNG to meet the district's requirements.

Responding to the concerns, Minister Hardeep Singh Puri assured swift action and instructed the concerned officials to address the issue promptly.

The meeting was also attended by Uttara Kannada MP Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri.
