Mandi, Dec 5 (IANS): The Central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched several welfare schemes for the common people, with the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme being one of the prominent ones.

Beneficiary farmers from Mandi and Kullu districts of Himachal Pradesh expressed their gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the benefits they have received under this scheme.

The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi has proven to be a blessing for farmers.

Previously, small farmers had to take loans for farming, but now, receiving Rs 2,000 three times a year has eased agricultural work. The scheme started in 2018 during the Rabi season.

Farmers in Mandi and Kullu districts of Himachal Pradesh are celebrating the benefits of the Kisan Samman Nidhi, with a visible sense of joy on their faces. Moreover, the scheme has also increased the interest of young people in agriculture.

Chaman Lal, a beneficiary farmer, said: "The government has launched many schemes, but the Kisan Samman Nidhi is the best. PM Modi's scheme is helping improve our economic and social status. We are thankful to him. Earlier, without this scheme, farmers were struggling and had to rely on banks or other institutions for farming. To buy good seeds for a good crop, farmers were dependent on others."

Dharmchandra, a young farmer from Kullu, said that the elders in his family have been involved in farming and horticulture for years.

"Earlier, people faced a lot of difficulties and had to take loans for seeds and medicines. But now, the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi has helped us a lot. Our financial condition has improved, and we are now more focused on farming. I request the government to increase the instalments from three to four times a year."

Scientist Dr. Pankaj Sood noted: "For the past three years, farmers have been receiving regular instalments in their accounts through the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi. Though the amount may be small, it is very helpful for farmers. Often, farmers don't have money for seeds and medicines, and this scheme supports them. The regular, three-time yearly instalment is a big help to the farmers."
