Mangaluru, Dec 8: The LKG toddlers of Mount Carmel Central School, Mangaluru were with exploratory hands-on activities promoting overall development, learning, teamwork, curiosity and communication. Each LKG class participated in unique activities to develop their cognitive functions and foster understanding in an interactive way.
LKG a focused on learning the difference between fruits and vegetables, using attractive visuals and emphasized the role of nutrition in health and well-being. LKG B introduced number names through flashcards, allowing children to recognize, count, and associate numbers with their names. This was supported by songs and games, promoting learning and retention while making the experience enjoyable and interactive. LKG C engaged in a ball transfer activity in counting numbers to develop prehensile skills, hand-eye coordination, and teamwork. The open air surrounding made it more enjoyable while learning. LKG D had a transport-themed activity where children learned about various types of transportation—land, water, and air—and their uses in daily life. Through visual aids and interactive learning, the children gained knowledge about how people and goods move. LKG E explored the senses through activities that highlighted different sense organs and their functions. The children experienced sensations such as tasting sweet, sour, salty, and bitter foods, touching delicate petals, and enjoying fragrant smells like jasmine and rose. The classroom was filled with smiles as children responded to the sounds of bells and other sensory experiences, making the learning both memorable and delightful.
These activities collectively enhanced the students' cognitive, motor, and social skills while nurturing a strong sense of curiosity and wonder, making learning constructive and joyful.
