Udupi, Dec 8: The Sarsanghchalak of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Dr Mohan Bhagwat, visited the Udupi Sri Krishna Math on Sunday evening to offer prayers and seek the blessings of Lord Krishna.

In a modest ceremony held at the Geetha Mandir, Dr Bhagwat was honoured by Paryaya Sri Sugunendra Tirtha Swamiji of the Puttige Math with the prestigious title of "Hindu Samrat" and the "Sri Krishna Geethanugraha" award in recognition of his remarkable contributions to the protection and promotion of Sanatana Dharma. The honour included a grand ceremonial mace (kadagolu), a silver plaque, a shawl, and floral offerings, along with sacred prasadam from the Math.

Following the darshan, Dr Bhagwat visited the Geetha Mandir, where Sri Sugunendra Tirtha Swamiji introduced him to the activities of the Geetha Shila Lekhana Dhyana Mandir and the Vadiraja Research Centre.

The Swamiji elaborated on the visionary Koti Geetha Lekhana Yajna (a mass sacred scripture-writing initiative) being undertaken during his fourth Paryaya tenure.

Dr Bhagwat expressed deep appreciation and delight at these efforts. During the ongoing Geethotsava, he also undertook the Geetha Lekhana Yajna initiation, presided over by the Swamiji.

The two leaders held private discussions on pressing issues, including anti-Hindu activities occurring in the country and neighbouring regions like Bangladesh. They emphasised the need for every Hindu to exhibit zero tolerance towards such activities while urging spiritual leaders and the saintly community to provide steadfast guidance in instilling religious values and national ideals in society.

Acknowledging the significant contributions of the RSS over the past century, Sri Sugunendra Tirtha Swamiji praised the organisation for safeguarding the identity of Sanatana Dharma in India. He remarked that without the RSS, Hindus would have faced even greater hardships.

He lauded the leadership of the RSS, from Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar to Dr Mohan Bhagwat, for inspiring countless individuals with their devotion and selfless service to the nation. He also wished for Dr Bhagwat’s enduring leadership and continued service to the country.

Dr Bhagwat also received blessings from junior seer Sri Sushreeendra Tirtha Swamiji.

The ceremony was attended by senior RSS leader Mukunda Ji, Udupi district Pramukh Naratan Shenoy, Math diwan M Nagaraj Acharya, Matti Lakshminarayana Rao, Pramod Sagar, Santosh Shetty, along with scholars, dignitaries, and devotees.
