Udupi: Tourist misbehaves assaults on-duty home guard, case filed

Udupi, Dec 9: An on - duty home guard was assaulted by a tourist for asking them to return to the seashore for misbehaving.

Akshay Kumar, a home guard employed by the Tourism Department of Udupi at Malpe Beach, has filed a complaint regarding an incident of assault and obstruction while on duty.

According to the complaint, Akshay Kumar was on duty at Malpe Beach from 10 AM on the day of the incident. Around 1 PM, a group of 4-5 individuals engaged in inappropriate behaviours in the deep waters of the sea. Concerned about the safety of the tourists, Akshay Kumar instructed the group to return to the shore.

One member of the group, identified as Sagar, allegedly came out of the water, used abusive language, and physically assaulted Akshay Kumar. When the complainant warned him of informing the PSI (Police sub-inspector) if he returned to the water, Sagar reportedly became enraged, pushed him to the ground, and obstructed him from performing his duties.

The situation was diffused with the help of bystanders and other home guard personnel present at the scene. Following the incident, a case was registered at the Malpe police station.
