Mangaluru, Dec 12: A man tragically ended his life by jumping into the sea from Rudrapaade in Someshwar near Ullal on Wednesday afternoon. His body was recovered later in the evening at Alimakallu.

The deceased has been identified as Udayakumar (46), a resident of Veeranagara, Padil.

Udayakumar, who owned a building materials shop at Padavinangadi in the city, reportedly arrived at Someshwar beach on Wednesday afternoon. He left all his belongings on his scooter before leaping into the sea from the Rudrapaade rock.

A youth who witnessed the incident handed over Udayakumar's belongings to a nearby shopkeeper and informed the Ullal police. Life guards launched a search using a tyre tube and found his body floating at Alimakallu later that evening.

Udayakumar is survived by his parents, wife, and son.
