Mangaluru, Dec 13: St Aloysius (Deemed to be University), in partnership with The Hindu, organised an interactive workshop titled 'Navigating the professional landscape: skills needed for success' at the LCRI Hall on December 12. The event featured Sridhar Aranala, vice president of sales & distribution at The Hindu Group, as the keynote speaker, with Dr Praveen Martis SJ, vice chancellor, presiding over the session. The workshop also welcomed Babu Vijay, general manager of The Hindu, along with Mathew and the team from The Hindu’s Mangalore division.
Sridhar Aranala delivered a compelling talk on time management, emphasising how often we overlook its value as it is freely available. He encouraged participants to identify a clear purpose in their pursuits, stressing the importance of understanding the 'why' behind actions.
Aranala also stressed the significance of persistence and gratitude in achieving success, in both personal and professional spheres of life. Drawing inspiration from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, he reminded the audience that 'FAIL means First Attempt in Learning', advocating for a positive approach toward setbacks as stepping stones to growth and excellence.
The workshop concluded with an engaging question-and-answer session, where students actively interacted with the speaker. Veronica Pallan, a postgraduate student of journalism and mass communication, reflected on the session, saying, “I found the session extremely enriching and have made personal resolutions based on the valuable insights shared by the speaker.”
The event was coordinated by Bhavya Shetty, head of UG and PG journalism and mass communication, along with Dr Manuel Tauro, dean of the School of commerce, finance, and accountancy, and Dr Melisa M Goveas, head of PG and UG English. This session served as an inspiring platform for participants to gain valuable skills and perspectives essential for navigating their professional journeys.
