The deceased, identified as Leela (45), a resident of Devinagar in Poonacha, reportedly endured frequent domestic disputes caused by her husband Sanjeeva’s excessive drinking habit. A similar altercation occurred recently, during which Leela sustained critical injuries.

Upon learning about her condition, locals rushed her to Puttur Government Hospital. Subsequently, she was shifted to Mangaluru's Wenlock Hospital for advanced treatment. However, Leela succumbed to her injuries without responding to medical care. She is survived by a daughter.
