Dammam: Saudi Konkan Youngsters Celebrate 'Nathalancho Dabazo'

Dammam, Dec 22: The Saudi Konkan Youngsters (SKY) Dammam celebrated its annual Christmas event “Nathalancho Dabazo 2011” which turned out to be a grand success. The event was hosted recently at Hotel Dhahran International, Al Khobar.

The hall was beautifully decorated with festive decorations. The programme began with lighting the ceremonial lamp by SKY president, Ronald Fernandes and executive committee members.

An introduction by comperes Alwyn Fernandes and Ivy Mathias was followed by prayer in Konkani led by SKY vice-president Mark Tellis. A tableau and dance by beautiful children on Christmas theme choreographed by Richard Cardin was presented. Christmas carols which were sung by the children and organized by Ronald Sequiera, Laveena Paul and Leslie Ferrao. The surprise guest was Santa Claus who came with bag full of chocolates which made the children run after him.
 
President Ronald Fernandes, Shirthady welcomed the guests and expressed his heartfelt thanks to all the sponsors for their continuous support as well as members for their dedicated services and support to SKY. Treasurer Anil Tauro, Kateel presented the financial report. A DVD of tribute to Jerome D’Souza Shradhanjali Nite 2011 was released by Arun D'Souza, president of Angan Konkneche, Riyadh. 

The audience was kept engrossed to the stage by a series of entertaining items like Portuguese dance, couple and filmy dances, Bharatanatyam, singing, magic show and several skits which were greeted with loud applause from the audience. The highlight of the event was a ‘Kuswarachi Bati’. Children cut the cake on the occasion to mark their birthday.

As part of the evening there was raffle draw wherein many attractive prizes including gold coin was given away to the winners. All the sponsors of the event were also felicitated on this occasion by SKY committee members. Vote of thanks was proposed by general secretary Roshan D’Souza, Valencia.

A sumptuous dinner was served which was enjoyed by one and all. The programme ended with a baila session. Around 400 plus Konkani speaking people including kids and teenagers actively participated in this family event. Even though the programme went into the small hours of the morning, the enthusiastic audience stayed back and enjoyed each moment.

    Well done Mr. Rony and the entire team of SKY for their hard work. The performance of all the children & adults was commendable.
    Very well choreographed and presented. The show was wonderful.
    My special thanks to Rony & SKY Management that they have given us to inaugurate the DVD of Tribute to Jerome D'Souza.

    Untill recent past, such a huge gathering or celebration was just a wishful thinking or a day-dream. The SKY Organisers taken the Organinstion to a new height, as high as the sky. Our best wishes are always with them.
