Bantwal, Dec 18: A tragic incident unfolded near Nettarakere, close to Thumbay in the Bantwal Town Police Station limits, on the morning of Tuesday, December 17, when a youth lost his life after falling from a train.

The deceased has been identified as Shashikumar S (26), a resident of Bilinele, Gunadka in Kadaba taluk. Around 11 pm on Monday, Shashikumar reportedly fell from an express train traveling from Subrahmanya to Mangaluru.

According to sources, Shashikumar was seated on the train's steps during the journey when he lost his balance and fell. Passengers in the same coach witnessed the fall and immediately alerted the Mangaluru railway police.

The body was later discovered near the train tracks, lying in a bushy area with severe head injuries and in a blood-soaked condition. However, the authorities initially struggled to identify the deceased as his details were not immediately available.

While there was some confusion regarding the circumstances of his death initially, clarity emerged following the investigation and inputs from the railway police.
