Crane mishap near Mangaluru airport exit gate claims operator’s life

Mangaluru, Dec 18: In a tragic incident near the exit gate of Mangaluru International Airport, a crane operator lost his life after the crane he was operating overturned. The incident falls under the jurisdiction of Bajpe police station.

The deceased has been identified as Arun Kumar Jadhav, a crane operator from Uttar Pradesh.

The crane was traveling from Adyapady towards Kenjar Junction via the airport’s exit route. Reports suggest that the vehicle lost control on a sloped section of the road and plunged into a ditch.

A rescue operation lasting about 30 minutes was required to extricate the operator, who was trapped under the crane. Using another crane, the rescue team lifted the vehicle and freed the operator.

Following the mishap, Arun Kumar sustained severe injuries. Locals rushed him to a private hospital in the city. Unfortunately, despite medical intervention, he succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

Traffic police from Mangaluru north station visited the site and conducted a preliminary investigation into the incident.

    many crane operators drive as if they are driving a bicycle...least bothered about others and their own safety...if i see one coming from opposite end..i just park my scooter and allow it to pass on narrow roads of kapikad
