Mangalore, Dec 22:
It was an evening of carols, dance, colour, and music at ‘Navidad’, a charity show celebrated at St Agnes College auditorium, on Thursday December 22 at 4.30 pm.

Louis J Pinto, former president, Mandd Sobhann, was the chief guest of the evening. Addressing the gathering, he said that Christmas is magic that brings peace, tidings, and love that remind us to give glory to God.

He added that one should not forget the essence of the Christmas celebration which is sharing and caring, at a time when materialism is dominating the celebration mood. Pinto lauded the organizers for organizing the charity show.

Patricia Pinto, vice-president, PTA, was the guest of honour.

The main objective of Navidad has been to provide a home for a needy family. The fund raiser show received generous support from the staff, students, parents, alumni, and benefactors of St Agnes College.

Navidad at St Agnes College has a long tradition. It was first introduced in 1996 under the planning and guidance of Merlyn Britto, who was a member of staff in the department of English. Over the years, this thoughtful mission of St Agnes College has made a positive difference to a number of homeless families.

Marjorie Texeira conducted an informative quiz on the theme of Christmas. The play ‘White Christmas’ enlightened the audience with the true meaning of Christmas.

The amount raised from the show was given by principal Dr Sr Prem D’Souza to Anitha D’Souza and her family to build their house. Sr Maria Kripa was present. Anitha and her mother thanked the organisers and the donors for helping them in their need.
