Beltangady, Dec 18: In a shocking incident, cow meat was discovered in the Mrityunjaya river near Annaru bridge, within the Charmadi gram panchayat limits, on Tuesday. Along with the meat, the remains of cattle, including a cow’s head, a calf’s carcass, skin, and bones, were stuffed into eleven gunny bags and dumped into the river.
The illegal slaughter and disposal of cow meat have polluted the river water, raising concerns about potential environmental hazards and the spread of infectious diseases. Upon receiving complaints from the public, Dharmasthala police visited the site, conducted an inspection, and collected information regarding the incident.
Bajrang Dal taluk president Dinesh Charmadi has demanded a thorough investigation into the matter, urging authorities to take swift action.
