Kasargod: Assam police nab accused wanted under UAPA in Padannakad

Kasargod, Dec 18: A man of Assam origin, wanted under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA), was arrested by an Assam police team in Padannakad, Kasaragod.

M B Shab Sheikh (31) was apprehended on Wednesday, December 18, early in the morning following a swift operation based on reliable intelligence.

The accused, who had entered India illegally from Bangladesh, had been residing in Assam and had later obtained Indian citizenship and a fake passport. He had been hiding in Padannakad for the past month, working as a painter. Acting on a lookout notice, Assam police, with the assistance of Hosdurg police, captured him.

After being presented in Hosdurg court, Sheikh was transferred to Assam for further legal proceedings.
