Shivamogga, Dec 19: The Shimoga Multipurpose Social Service Society (SMSSS) brought the spirit of christmas alive for less fortunate children by organizing a touching and joyous celebration at Chaitanya, Shimoga. The event, aptly named Minugutare-2024, encapsulated the essence of hope and happiness, and was graced by several dignitaries and community leaders.

The event was presided over by Fr Stany D'Souza, the vicar general of the diocese, whose presence added a spiritual and uplifting aura to the celebration. Shree Basava Navalinga Sharanaru delivered a heart-touching message, emphasizing the importance of compassion and community support. Abdul Lathif, the secretary of SSF India, Shimoga, lauded the tireless humanitarian work of SMSSS, highlighting their dedication to improving the lives of the less fortunate.

Msgr Stany D'Souza, the vicar general, offered a beautiful christmas message that resonated with the theme of the day, reminding everyone of the true meaning of the festive season. Fr Pius D'Souza, the director of SMSSS, gave an inspiring keynote address, encouraging the community to continue supporting such noble causes.

The event was expertly compered by Savitha, who kept the program engaging and lively. The welcome address was delivered by Sridevi, setting a warm and inviting tone for the day. Lilly Lopes concluded the event with a heartfelt vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all participants and supporters.

The celebration saw the participation of 290 children and 120 caretakers. Each child received a 'HOPE KIT' comprising a quilt, cap, T-shirt, and backpack, a gesture that brought immense joy and comfort. The day was filled with various games and fun activities, which succeeded in bringing smiles and laughter to the faces of the children.

The programme was widely appreciated by all attendees, reflecting the overwhelming success of Minugutare-2024. The games and activities infused a sense of hope and joy among the children, making the event a memorable occasion.
