Bantwal, Dec 19: The sixth Bantwal Taluk Short Poetry Convention, organized under the auspices of the Taluk Chutuku Sahitya Parishat, will be held on December 29 at the Suvarna Rangamandira of Vittal Pre-University College, with Mulya Shankar Bhat presiding over the event, according to reception committee secretary Rajaram Verma.

Speaking at a press conference, Rajaram Verma shared details of the convention. The event, to be held at the Ravi Varma Krishnaraja Arasu stage in the Janardhana Pai auditorium in Palimar, will be inaugurated by M G R Arasu, general secretary of the central committee of the Short Poetry Council, through the ceremonial lighting of the lamp in the presence of the royal family of Vitla.

Prior to the inauguration, a procession will be flagged off by town panchayat president Karunakar Naitthottu. Kannada flag hoisting will be led by Vishwanath Bantwal, president of the Taluk Kannada Sahitya Parishat, while the Short Poetry Council flag will be hoisted by Harish Sulaya, president of the district Short Poetry Council. Muguli Thirumaleshwar Bhat, president of the Vitla Education Society, will inaugurate the exhibition stalls. The valedictory address will be delivered by Narasimha Verma, legal officer of Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation and a member of the royal family of Vitla.

The convention will feature book releases, a short poetry session for children, a senior poets' session, panel discussions, felicitations for achievers, and cultural programs, including Yakshagana Tala Maddale.

Reception committee treasurer Mohan Gurjinadka, Anand Rai Adkasthala, president of the Taluk Short Poetry Council, and vice president Vishnugupta Punacha were present at the press conference.
