Udupi, Dec 20: BJP leader Pramod Madhwaraj alleged that the state government fabricated the incident involving MLC C T Ravi to divert public attention from the government's alleged scams. He made these remarks during a protest held by the Udupi district BJP against the arrest of C T Ravi, MLC, at the Udupi BJP office on Friday, December 20.
Madhwaraj stated, "No leader has ever been arrested for actions taken in Parliament. It is disappointing for our democracy that C T Ravi was arrested for his actions during a parliamentary meeting. Even drug peddlers and criminals are not treated by the police the way C T Ravi was treated. This was orchestrated by the state government and police as an act of revenge. C T Ravi was working to expose the corruption of the state government."
Kishore Kumar Kundapura, Udupi district BJP president, remarked, "I want to remind everyone of the incident in Udupi when a camera was found in a women’s washroom. The deputy chief minister and home minister had dismissed it as a small issue. They defend bombers as their 'brothers' and claim those who chant slogans for Pakistan as innocent. In parliamentary meetings, discussions can lead to arguments, but these can often be resolved peacefully. In the Belagavi session, C T Ravi did not use any derogatory remarks against Minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar. He has even stated he is ready to face any punishment if audio proof of such a statement is provided. It has been 24 hours since the incident, yet no evidence has surfaced, proving this was a fabricated conspiracy. While C.T. Ravi is punished for words spoken in the heat of a discussion, leaders who have committed more serious offenses, like pulling a woman’s saree, remain unpunished. These actions are clearly orchestrated under the direction of the state government."
BJP leaders K Uday Kumar Shetty, Shrikant Naik, Vijay Kodavoor, Shamala Kundar, Shivakumar, district media convenor Shrinidhi Hegde, and others actively participated in the protest.
