Beltangady, Dec 21: Bharati (41), daughter of the late Kurmbila and Laxmi, residents of Ubaradka in Kaliya village, passed away at her residence on Tuesday night. She had been bedridden for 14 years following a tragic accident on July 30, 2010, near Santhekatte Aiyappa Mandir.
Bharati, who worked as a guest lecturer at Melanthabettu PU College, suffered paralysis below the waist due to the accident. Despite her condition, she remained connected with her students, teaching Accountancy and Business Studies over the phone. Her health had deteriorated in recent days.
The accident occurred when Bharati and her colleague Jayamala were returning home from college. Their auto-rickshaw was struck by a pickup truck near Aiyappa Mandir. Jayamala died on the spot, while Bharati sustained severe injuries that confined her to bed. Tragically, Jayamala's KAS examination results, released after the accident, revealed she had passed.
Bharati endured immense pain and challenges in her bedridden state for over a decade. She leaves behind her mother, two brothers, and four sisters.
