Mangalore, Dec 24: Christmas eve was celebrated with much devotion and vigour across the parishes in the city on Saturday December 24.

The entire city is adorned with sparkling lights and twinkling stars in celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ the Saviour.

    Rosario Cathedral

Christians flocked the churches to attend the special Mass. Carol singing, colourful cribs and vibrant Christmas Trees added colour to the festivity.

The Mass at Rosario Cathedral began at 8 pm, preceded by carol singing. Bishop of Mangalore, Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza, offered the Mass along with Fr Stanly Goveas, parish priest of Roasario Cathedral and other priests.

The bishop said that Christmas is not only about decorating Christmas Trees or preparing grand cribs. These are only external; the real meaning of Christmas lies in inculcating the values of Jesus, in having him in one's heart and following in his path, he said. The bishop also wished everyone a very happy and peaceful new year.

The Christmas Mass at Rosario Cathedral was webcast live on Daijiworld.

A Christmas candle is a lovely thing
It makes no noise at all,
      But softly gives itself away
      While quite unselfish,
      it grows small.
Wishing all the daijiworld readers a Merry Christmas!!
