Udupi: Traffic woes intensify as Christmas, New Year festivities coincide with ongoing roadworks

Udupi, Dec 23: As the Christmas and New Year festivities approach, Udupi City is experiencing severe traffic congestion due to ongoing roadworks on National Highway 66.

All major roads in the city have been blocked with heavy traffic, not only on the main routes but also on interior roads, leading to circular blockages. The situation has worsened due to the influx of tourists visiting Udupi’s popular tourist spots. Large buses and tourist vehicles have flooded the city’s roads, contributing to the traffic chaos.

Meanwhile, the ongoing National Highway works at Ambalpadi have resulted in traffic diversions, causing severe blockages at crucial junctions such as Karavali Bypass, Kinnimulki, Ambalpady, and Udyavar. Kilometer-long queues have become a common sight over the past week.

In response, traffic police, along with local residents, have been seen managing the traffic flow, helping to ease the congestion in some areas.
