Mangaluru, Dec 23: Carmel School, Mangaluru, illuminated its 60th anniversary with a spectacular diamond jubilee annual day celebration on December 19. This grand occasion brought together the Carmel family in a jubilant display of culture, unity, and pride, with the spotlight shining on the talents of kindergarten to grade 3 students.
The event began on a high note with a stately guard of honour by the dynamic school band, welcoming the principal and dignitaries in style. The atmosphere turned serene as a heartfelt prayer song set the spiritual tone for the evening, seeking divine blessings.
In her eloquent welcome address, Sr Lilly Pushpa, the principal, extended a warm embrace to the distinguished guests, institutional heads, and proud parents, igniting the spirit of togetherness. The youngest stars—students from Kindergarten to Grade 3 — stole the show early on with a mesmerising fusion dance, filling the stage with energy and charm.
A momentous highlight of the evening was the formal inauguration of the diamond jubilee celebration, marking 60 years of excellence. The students’ soulful rendition of the jubilee song symbolized the legacy, unity, and aspirations of Carmel School, leaving everyone inspired.
The cultural extravaganza unfolded with vibrant performances from LKG students, who showcased the "Colors of Life" through delightful representations of red, yellow, and orange. UKG students followed, depicting themes of orange, blue, and green with creativity and liveliness. A moving skit by UKG students on Gandhiji’s values of clean India served as a gentle reminder of timeless principles.
As the evening progressed, students from classes 1, 2, and 3 captivated the audience with enthralling dances, impactful skits, and a thought-provoking mime performance, portraying Carmel School’s journey and its role in empowering society through education. Adding a unique touch, parents joined the celebration with a heartwarming dance performance, underscoring the deep bond between the school and its families.
The annual report was presented innovatively, highlighting the achievements and milestones of the past year and inspiring the audience with the school’s progress and vision.

Dr Preeti Kirti D’Souza reflected on Carmel School’s nurturing spirit, offering invaluable advice to parents about reducing mobile screen time to foster stronger family connections.
The celebration also honoured the school’s bright stars with excellence awards, recognizing students for their remarkable achievements, full attendance, and standout performances in various competitions, including the season of creation activities and the swachh bharat coloring competition.
