Mangaluru, Dec 24: Christmas Sauharda programme was organised in St Aloysius ITI on December 23. Naveen Chandra Shriyan - Pradhan Archak & managing Trustee – Sri Vidya Saraswathi Temple, Kottara; Rafiuddin Ustad Kudroli - president – UNIWEF, Karnataka; Fr Ashwin Lohith Cardoza - director ICYM, Mangalore diocese were the chief guests for the programme. Fr John D’Souza S J - director, St Aloysius ITI was the president for the programme. Roshan D’Souza - principal, Noel Lobo and Wilson N - training officers, Manjunath - convener of the programme, Raviraj - alumni of SAITI and a social worker, Sera D’Costa and Darshan - president, student council were present for the programme.
The programme was commenced by a prayer service which was led by fashion designing and electronics mechanic 1st year students. Roshan D’Souza - principal, welcomed the gathering.
The programme was inaugurated by cutting the Christmas cake by the dignitaries.
Naveen Chandra Shriyan addressed the gathering by saying, “Religious Sauharda Programme must be started from LKG, UKG so that children will know what is religion. We must celebrate all religious festivals. When you celebrate a festival of your religion don't hate the other because we all are one, God is one and We are children of God. Every religion has its own strength. We must all live in peace. We must avoid violence and hatred towards other religions to maintain peace and harmony in society. All religions teach love, peace and equality. No religion advocates violence. We should also respect other religions in order to create peace in the society.”
Rafiuddin Ustad Kudroli spoke a few words saying, “We must serve our nation. Most of the Indians go to gulf country for work but we as Indians respect every religion and celebrate religious festivals. We must not speak bad about other religion. Colours or symbols don't define religion, we must have respect towards every religion.”
Prizes were distributed to the students who won in the star competition, carol singing competition and greeting card competition.
Addressing the gathering, Fr Ashwin Lohith Cardoza spoke a few words saying that, “Nowadays some people or organisations mislead the youth and poison their minds to achieve their self-interests. We must follow our religion, but respect other religions equally. Love is experiencing God, let us experience God through our religion. Let us be loving and respectful human beings.”
Christmas carols were sung by the students and staff members.
In his presidential address, Fr John D’Souza SJ said that, “We must live in unity. There should be no discrimination between the religions. We should have faith, hope and love.”
Manjunath Gowda, student of electrician 2nd year proposed the vote of thanks. The programme was compered by Abhishek, student of electrician 2nd year.
The crib was done by AC technician batch 1 students.
