Churches across Mangaluru and Udupi came alive on Tuesday, December 24, with festive lights, carol singing, and vibrant decorations marking the grand Christmas Eve Mass.
The twin districts witnessed an overwhelming turnout of devotees who attended Masses, united in prayer and thanksgiving. Illuminated stars, twinkling lights, and beautifully designed cribs adorned church premises, adding to the celebratory atmosphere. The fragrance of freshly decked Christmas trees and melodious carol singing created an aura of peace and festivity.

Milagres Cathedral, Udupi
At Rosario Cathedral in Mangaluru, Bishop Dr Peter Paul Saldanha presided over the solemn Christmas Eve Mass, emphasizing the universal message of love, hope, and compassion heralded by the birth of Christ.
In Udupi, Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, bishop of the Diocese of Udupi, led the Christmas Eve Mass at Milagres Cathedral, Kallianpur. He was joined other clergy as co-celebrants. The Mass featured heartfelt hymns and prayers, with devotees renewing their commitment to faith and community service.
Special Christmas programmes, including carol singing, cultural performances, and community gatherings, added to the vibrancy of the celebrations. The event served as a reminder of the season’s message of unity, peace, and goodwill among all.
