Udupi: 30-yr-old labourer from Chikkamagaluru assaulted over mobile phone dispute

Udupi, Dec 24: A daily wage labourer who had arrived in Udupi just a week ago was assaulted by his own friend over a trivial dispute of mobile phone.

Ravi (30), a resident of Nandibattalu Tandya, Chikkamagaluru, who had arrived in Udupi a week ago and had sought daily wage work, was allegedly assaulted late at night on December 23.

The incident occurred near the Naina Fancy Store in Moodanidamburu village, opposite Tirumala Jewellers, around 11:30 pm.

According to reports, Ravi was engaged in a conversation about a mobile phone with Hanumanth, an acquaintance. The discussion escalated into an argument, during which Hanumanth allegedly struck Ravi on the lips and cheek, causing bleeding injuries.

Following this, Hanumanth reportedly kicked Ravi and assaulted him on the head with a stone, resulting in further injuries.

The Udupi Town Police have registered a case. Further investigation is underway.
