Daijiworld Media Network – Beltangady

Beltangady, Dec 25: A tree fell on a power line, leading to a short circuit in a transformer and sparking a fire on a hillside at Kadamballi, near Mundaje, on Tuesday.

The incident caused two LT (low-tension) electric poles to collapse when the tree fell on the power line and road. The resulting fire spread across approximately one acre of hillside area.

Local residents played a crucial role in preventing the fire from spreading to a nearby rubber plantation, averting greater damage.

Upon receiving information about the incident, MESCOM officials promptly stopped the power supply to avoid further hazards. MESCOM personnel later visited the site to assess the situation and take necessary measures.

Further investigations are underway to determine the extent of damage.
