Mangalore, Dec 26: Two books on music authored by Dr Michael Lobo were released at St Aloysius High School Hall on Monday December 26.

The books titled ‘Popular Music-Historical and Thematic Analysis’ and ‘A Thousand Pages of Music-With Historical Analysis’ were released on the occasion.

Fr Swebert D’Silva, principal, St Aloysius College, Fr Joseph Rodrigues, rector, St Aloysius College, and Veronica and Baron Marrius from the United Kingdom, were the guests.

Speaking on the occasion, Fr D’Silva said that no matter how an individual is, music touches everyone’s heart and is considered a universal language.

Fr Rodrigues, in his remarks, said that though he was associated with classic music he was taught to respect all types of music no matter what genre they are.

About the Books

The compilation of classics, opera, popular instrumental pieces, and popular songs, has been entitled ‘A Thousand Pages of Music’, with historical notes. Every piece in this volume has a historical note which gives you an introduction to the composer, the lyricist, the date of publication, a very complete historical background, and a write-up on where it was performed or sung, and how it became famous or why it was popular. Also, the book is a tool for study of origins of popular songs with its year of composition. ‘Popular Music–Historical and Thematic Analysis’ is also connected with music.
