Mangaluru, Dec 29: The Nitte Institute of Physiotherapy (NIPT), NITTE (Deemed to be University), Deralakatte, Mangaluru, in collaboration with the Indian Association of Physiotherapy (IAP) Kerala and Pathanamthitta Rehabilitation and Palliative Centre Society (PRPC), organized a free physiotherapy camp at Sabarimala for the second consecutive year in 2024.
The first camp of the year was conducted from January 6 to January 12, and the second camp was held from December 17 to December 20 at Appachimedu in Emergency Medical Centre (EMC) 7. Prof Dr Dhanesh Kumar K U, principal of NIPT, coordinated the arrangements for the camp.
Volunteers Rakesh Krishna, Jayesh Chandran, and Nityal Kumar from Nitte Institute of Physiotherapy provided free physiotherapy services to Ayyappa Swami devotees. The team treated an average of 75 devotees daily, addressing issues like severe cramps and spasms in the lower limbs using physiotherapeutic techniques, liniments, and other modalities.
Most devotees seeking treatment hailed from Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Karnataka. The camp proved highly beneficial, offering much-needed healthcare services to pilgrims.
Devotees expressed their gratitude for the effective physiotherapy services, which provided relief during their pilgrimage. The success of the camp reflects the commitment of NIPT and its collaborators in supporting the needs of the devotees.
