Mangaluru/Udupi, Dec 29: The renowned temples and popular beaches in the twin districts were bustling with tourists and locals over the weekend, thanks to the year-end holidays on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
The number of devotees at Sri Kshethra Dharmasthala surged significantly from Friday, as many outstation visitors arrived for the holidays. On Saturday, devotees were seen standing in long queues well into the night to get darshan of Lord Manjunatha and receive Anna Prasada. The crowds further swelled on Sunday and is expected to remain high even on Monday.
Other famous temples also witnessed an increase in footfall, including Shree Kshethra Sautadka Mahaganapati, the Surya Sri Sadashivarudra Temple known for its mud vow ritual, and Ujire Janardhan Temple, which all saw more visitors than usual.
Kukke Subrahmanya Temple was particularly crowded on Saturday, with proper arrangements in place to ensure devotees could get darshan of Lord Subrahmanya without much hassle.
