Mangaluru, Dec 31: A scooter rider, employed as a Swiggy delivery boy, met a tragic end in a truck accident near Sankolige of Ullal on NH 66.
The deceased has been identified as Umar Farooq, also known as Azhar (31), a resident of Paneer, Deralakatte. Unmarried, he worked as a delivery executive for Swiggy.
The incident occurred late on December 31 when Farooq was returning to Thokkottu after completing a delivery in Talapady. A truck traveling in the same direction collided with his scooter, throwing him onto the road. The rear wheels of the truck ran over him, leading to his death on the spot.
The Mangaluru South traffic police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.
