Sharjah: Mogaveers UAE Test Athletic Skills on 4th Anniversary Celebrations

Sharjah, Dec 27: Mogaveers UAE celebrated their 4th Annual Day recently at Sharjah Wanderers Club, Sharjah. Sports day was also held on the occasion.
It was a fun-filled full day event of sports starting with lighting up of the torch jointly by Lokesh V Puthran, president of Mogaveers UAE and Chandrashekar Salian ADH. They handed over the lighted torch to Shashidhar Kotian to take a full running lap around the ground with the 7 Emirates Team, starting with Dubai team which in turn passed it on to Sharjah, UAE, Ajman, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah and finally the torch was handed over to the Abu Dhabi Team led by Yatish Puthran, who finally took the last lap of and then handed over the torch to Chandrashekar R Salian. The torch was kept on the stand with high esteem.
The programme started with a prayer from children. After the completion of the prayer Chandrashekar gave a heartwarming speech, in which he encouraged the youngsters to keep themselves fit by adapting sports activities. He also said that the unity amongst Mogaveers UAE should continue and reach new heights by the activities they conduct. He then declared the sports meet open by releasing balloons.
The sports event started at 10 am with children below 5 years 25 mtr running race. All young enthusiastic children took part in the game followed by children’s games from Age 5 to 8 and 9 to 14 years collecting balloons and UAE flag colour balloons.
As the day progressed the senior category events started with a 100 mtr race for men and women.
There was a race to run sideways in which people participated with great enthusiasm.
Special attraction of the sports day was the above 50 years ladies 50 mtr walking race. All the participants who participated were on a visit from Mangalore. The winner was Shantha U .Karkera, ex-president of Baikampady Mahila Sangha.
It was a day with great fun and frolic with lot of guests from other association visiting and greeting each other on the occasion.
On behalf of Mogaveers UAE Yadav Kotian, general secretary thanked all the guests who graced the occasion.

Yadav also congratulated and thanked the Senior Members of the Community who gave wholehearted support to make this occasion a great success.

During the noon time it was time for shotput open event for men and women. It was a real fun to watch all Mogaveers Men and Women trying out their best tactics to throw the shotput.
The sport event was well managed by the Sports Committee members who put all their hard work to make it a success.
By noon time it was time for the delicious mouth watering Mangalorean traditional lunch.
After the lunch session there were some more events for ladies and men, that is, popcorn garland race and sack race. Then the crowd cheered all the 4x100 mt relay teams.
The final special attraction was the test of strength, that is, the tug of war for ladies and gents, which was a great enthusiastic game to watch.
Results:
In the evening an annual programme started with a semi-classical Suprabatha group dance choreographed by Vadiraj. Solo dance by budding talents like Riya Salian and Naisha were well received by the audience. The crowd encouraged and enjoyed the group dance by Jathin, Yuktha, Manvi, Naisha, Tanvi, Heathal, and Harsha which was choreographed by Vijay Chandra. A comedy group dance by Subash, Naveen, Sachin, Lohit, Likhit and Girish sent the audience into peals of laughter. Sahil and Yashasvi performed a good filmy dance. Songs by Geetha, Jathin, Shahil, Tushar, Deepak and team were good. Deepak and Nalini’s romantic dance attracted the audience.
During the course of event, Mogaveers UAE secretary Purshotham Suvarna briefed the audience of the achievements and work done since last 4 years and also about the current activities in the UAE of Yoga and other various charitable events carried out by Mogaveers UAE .
Purshotham also highlighted that Mogaveers UAE is proud to organize the Blood Donation Camp every year on UAE National Day on December 2 and also thanked Balakrishna Salian, who has taken a lead role in organizing the camp and also organizing blood donation camps for other Associations in UAE.
Lokesh Puthran in his presidential speech thanked all mogaveera members and briefed the audience with Mogaveer UAE’s activities done in the year 2011 and also requested all members to lend support to the needy students in the field of education.
Puthran also thanked Chandrashekar R Salian, ADH for his wholehearted support from the day of the formation of the Mogaveer UAE association in 2007 till today. He has been the pillar of UAE Mogaveers who has given the direction, support and advice to the committee during his stay in UAE.
Felicitation was given to Chandrashekar R Salian, ADH in a traditional style with Peta, shawl, flowers and fruits for his support to the community and also as he is joining his family in India and leaving UAE permanently after his retirement. Chandrashekar R Salian was a pioneer in uniting mogaveers in UAE for the last 10 years and his dream became true in 2007.
Chandrashekar in his felicitation speech congratulated all Mogaveera members as well as family members for the success of the event and he expressed his feelings of being closely associated with mogaveers UAE since 2007 and it is quiet an pain full experience to part . He wished everybody all the best wishes and to take ahead Mogaveers UAE to greater heights in the field of Education and Charity .
The final highlight of the Evening entertainment programme was the color full Kola Dance, under the direction of Sunil Chitrapura. The team consisted of Subash, Naveen, Sachin, Lohit, Shashidhar Kotian, Likith and.Girish. The audience got mesmerized with the performance and felt the feel of the real kola which happens back home in Mangalore.
Momentos were given to all sponsors, participants, well wishers and media person for all their support and coverage.
Shasidhar Surathkal and Bala Salian covered the event in their classic style entertaining the audience and wishing everybody Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2012 .
The programme ended in the evening with raffle draw, conducted by Satish Karkera and Deepak Raj Kotian.
