Media Release

Moodbidri, Jan 2: On December 19, students of Carmel School embarked on a heart-warming and insightful journey to Mount Rosary Old Age Home Alangar and the picturesque paddy fields of Vidyagiri. This unique experience combined compassion with learning, leaving an indelible mark on everyone involved.

At Mount Rosary Old Age Home students spent time interacting with the residents spreading cheer and joy. Their smiles and heartfelt conversations brought light to the lives of the elderly teaching the young visitors the value of kindness and empathy.

The visit to the paddy fields however was a lesson in hard work and resilience. Stepping into the vast expanse of lush green fields students were mesmerised by the beauty of nature. They observed the farmers toiling under the sun dedicating themselves to the labourious process of cultivating paddy.

Farmers explained each stage of cultivation from ploughing the fields and planting seedlings to irrigation and pest management. Students eagerly participated in planting the seedlings experiencing first-hand the challenges of farming. The soft wet soil and the muddy water made the activity both fun and enlightening.

This visit instilled a deep respect for the relentless efforts of farmers. Students gained an understanding of the hardships they endure to provide food for our tables. They left with a renewed sense of gratitude vowing to never waste food and to appreciate every grain they consume.

The day ended with a mix of emotions - joy from connecting with the elderly - and awe from witnessing the dedication of farmers. It was a journey of learning compassion and respect - making it an unforgettable experience for the students of Carmel School.
