Kundapur, Jan 3: Former MLA K Gopal Poojary announced that objections regarding the draft reservation for Byndoor Town Panchayat in Udupi district can be submitted through the Deputy Commissioner. This follows a notification issued by T Manjunath, the under secretary of the Urban Development Department, on December 24.

In a press release, Poojari stated that the government gazette published on Thursday outlined the reservation of 20 wards for Byndoor Town Panchayat. This decision has raised concerns among people from the hilly and rural areas of Byndoor, as it could lead to difficulties for them. The issue has already been brought to the attention of the deputy commissioners and senior government officials.

"The district administration, responding to our appeal, has gathered the opinions of the people in this area and, after conducting a geographical study, recommended reducing the Town Panchayat limits to 11 wards for the sake of balanced development. A detailed report was submitted to the government," Poojary explained.

He expressed confidence that the government would soon respond to the expectations and demands of the people of Byndoor by reducing the Town Panchayat limits to 11 wards.

"Given that we are confident of the government's decision, we request that the current reservation process for 20 wards be cancelled, and the Town Panchayat limits be set to 11 wards, as per the local demand," Poojary added.

He confirmed that objections to the draft notification published in the government gazette will soon be submitted through the deputy commissioners.
