Mangaluru, Jan 6: As part of Karavali Utsava, the beach festival will now be held on January 11 and 12 at Tannirbhavi beach. The event is presented by Rohan Corporation and organized by the district administration.
The beach festival, initially scheduled earlier, was postponed due to the demise of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
The two-day festival promises an array of dance and music programmes at Tannirbhavi beach.
On January 11, the festival will begin at 6 p.m. with a dance performance, followed by a live concert by Kadri Manikanth.
The schedule for January 12 includes:
5 am - Yoga
6:30 am - Udaya Raga
9 am - Water Sports
9:30 am - Sand Art
5:30 pm - Dance Festival
6:30 pm - Closing Ceremony
7 pm - Raghu Dixit Project
The festival is set to offer visitors an enriching experience of culture and entertainment.
Deputy commissioner (DC) Mullai Muhilan stated, "Over the two days of the beach festival, there will be water sports, sand art, a music festival, and a dance festival. We are organizing this event to establish Mangaluru as a tourist destination. Dakshina Kannada is the first surfing destination in the country, and there will be demonstrations of surfing and sailboat activities."
"Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) will manage waste disposal, while precautionary measures will be handled by the Coast Guard, Coastal Security Police, lifeguards, and a team of fishermen. Protocols will be set up to prevent the public from stepping into the sea," he added.
Meanwhile, police commissioner Anupam Agrawal and DC Mullai Muhilan released the poster for the beach festival.
