Mangalore: Annual Sports Meet of DK District Police Held with Vibrancy

Mangalore, Dec 29: The annual sports meet  jointly organized by Mangalore City Police and Dakshina Kannada district police at district armed police reserve ground here was inaugurated on Thursday December 29.

Mangalore University vice chancellor Prof T C Shivashankarmurthy inaugurated the sports meet at 9 am. The inauguration was made by the chief guests and others on the dais by setting the pigeon free and releasing of balloon in the air.

Inaugurating the sports meet Shivashankarmurthy said that the meet will help in showcasing the talents and developing sportsmanship among police personnel who otherwise will be busy in delivering their duty through out the year.

City Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh and SP Laburam were present on the dais.

Teams from DAR, Mangalore City, Panambur Sub-Division, Puttur Sub-Division and Women police participated in the sports meet.

The two-day sports meet will also include 100, 200, 400, 800, 1500 metres race, 4X100 metres relay, javelin throw, discus throw, shot put, hammer throw, long jump, high jump and triple jump for men and 100, 200 metres race, discus throw, long jump and high jump for women. Tug of war, kabaddi, volley ball are the team events.

The valedictory ceremony will be held on Friday December 30. IGP (western range) Pratap Reddy will be the chief guest for the valedictory.
