Mangaluru: Labourer loses life as mud collapses during drainage work

Mangaluru, Jan 7: A labourer tragically lost his life when a pile of mud collapsed during drainage work at Hoigebail in the city on Monday evening.

The deceased has been identified as Kamal Hussain (20), a native of West Bengal. The incident occurred while three labourers were working at a depth of eight feet. Suddenly, the surrounding mud caved in, trapping all three workers.

Local residents managed to rescue two of the labourers from the rubble, but Kamal Hussain succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital.

A case has been registered at Urwa police station, and an investigation is underway.

    Its so sad .Young fellow from far.Heartfelt sympathies to his family.Why there was nobody was observing the work?Where was contractor?and no safety methods so that mud they dug was taken away from place? Arrest the contractor.Make him responsible for such accident and Pay the family compansation.May his oul rest in peace.

    A young man working as labourer lost his life. We hear almost every day such deaths occurring eighter while digging or while cleaning septic tanks but forget it at the next moment. There should be some accountability.
