Mangaluru, Jan 9: The chill in the coastal region has noticeably increased over the past two to three days, especially during the early mornings. The temperature in Mangaluru city hovers around 20 to 21°C in the early hours, while in rural areas, it dips further by one or two degrees.
The sky remains clear, with no signs of rain. Mist blankets the night, and early mornings are marked by dew and reduced visibility in rural areas. The chill is noticeable even until 9 am.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), this weather pattern is expected to persist for a few more days, with changes anticipated only after January. The IMD has also issued a cold wave warning for northern and southern interior parts of Karnataka, including Uttara Kannada district. This could lead to a further drop in temperatures by 2 to 4°C, which might also affect the coastal region, lowering the temperatures there further.
While the mornings and evenings in the coastal region remain chilly, the afternoons continue to be warm.
