Bangalore: No Party Wanted Lokpal Bill Passed in Rajya Sabha: Santosh Hegde

Bangalore, Dec 30 (PTI): Team Anna member N Santosh Hegde today blamed all political parties for non-passage of Lokpal Bill in the Rajya Sabha, saying it was "choreographed by everybody".

Political parties did not want to pass the bill in the just concluded Parliament session. "It was choreographed by everybody...Nobody wanted to bill to go through," the former Karnataka Lokayukta told PTI here.

"According to me, it did not give any indication that any side, anybody wanted the bill to be passed in the session at all," he said. "Everybody stood to gain...everybody who is in politics."

In the context of coming Assembly elections, the former Supreme Court Judge said, "Now Congress can say we introduced but they (the opposition) did not allow; some other political party will say that deliberately a weak bill was introduced and so we opposed it and all."

"Who is the winner? Political parties. I am not saying any single party," he said. He referred to various issues such as amendments, divergent stand taken by different parties, members talking longer than the time allotted for them and Chairman Hamid Ansari adjourning the House sine die abruptly. "What does an ordinary common man with ordinary common sense make out of this?"

"This (Parliament) is the institution they call supreme institution in law making," Hegde said.

Politicians are chors we know but we the common people are idiots as we made these politicians idols. We treat these politicians next to god. See Jayalalitha who we all know to have accumulated large wealth illigaly became again CM of T.N. Same will be of Yeddi. So stop blaming the policicians. Blame ourselves as we associate religion with politics. We consider these corrupt politicians next to god. Otherwise they would not have been elected again and again. So we all should be ashamed.

What a right conclusion of justice Santosh Hegde on the outcome of parliamentary debate on passing of the bill and i agree with him totally.I was watching an interview on NDTV where S.Roy,Mr.Narayanswamy of INFOSYS,Kejriwal and another editor were giving their views and urged that we must first focus on a single Corruption issue.Let the fight continue to end corruption and let us not side with any political parties when it comes to fighting corruption.I hope the youth understand and follow Non-violently in their protests as requested by our selflessLeader Annaji."LONG LIVE ANNAJI"and his team to fight the Cancer in our society.

Yes You are right Mr. Hegde no party wants this bill to be passed. What we saw in the Lok and Rajyasbha is a high drama nothing else.Evcrybody played their role according to the script written by all party leaders together in all party meeting. The drama continues as follows firstly congress has to introduce the bill omitting some important points and on that points the opposition and other parties oppose and argue finally no result will come. All the political parties killed the bill using their political brain. They followed all the procedure in law making and all the parties are very well know how to play with those procedures. I want team anna to continue with there agitation against corruption and also i request to fight for the right to recall elected MP/MLA as well as all elected candidates top to bottom

I whole heartedly agree with Mr Justice Hegde. Politicians oof our country are thugs. They think that they are supreme and above the law and above the nation. In reality, they are the servants of aam admi and they should represent what the common man needs. We should stop the blame game and should desist inpatronising one single party at least for the sake of a good and effective lokpal bill. I am sure if the lokpal bill is passed, then whole of parliament would be empty and all parliamentarians would land in jail. All parties should take the blame for defeat of the bill. Now these thugs have another 3 months time in their hand to loot the country and they will not leave any single opportunity to make use of it by fooling us.Hell to these dirty rapers of their mother land.
