Mangaluru, Jan 9: The week-long State Games 2025 will take place from January 17 to 23 in Mangaluru and Udupi, announced Govind Raju, chairman of the State Olympics Association.
Addressing the media on Thursday, January 9, he stated, "Previously known as the State Olympics, the event is now titled State Games 2025. Chief minister Siddaramaiah allocated Rs 5 crore in the budget for this event, which was planned two years ago. The event will be organized in both Udupi and Mangaluru."
Speaker U T Khader said, “The games will feature 25 events across Mangaluru, Udupi, Manipal, and Bengaluru. Mangaluru will host 12 events, Udupi 8, Manipal 3, and Bengaluru 2. A total of 3,247 athletes will compete for 631 gold, 631 silver, and 827 bronze medals in the men’s and women’s categories.”
Events in Mangaluru include badminton, basketball, fencing, football, handball, kho-kho, netball, swimming, volleyball, weightlifting, wushu, and taekwondo. Udupi/Manipal will host archery, athletics, boxing, cycling, judo, kabaddi, wrestling, kayaking, canoeing, hockey, lawn tennis, and table tennis. Gymnastics and shooting events will be held in Bengaluru.
The inauguration of the State Games will take place in Mangaluru on January 17, while the valedictory ceremony will be held at Ajjarkadu, Udupi, on January 23.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mullai Muhilan stated, “We have secured 631 hostel rooms near the event venues for the athletes. Arrangements for transport and food have also been made.”
Udupi DC Vidya Kumari added, “We have blocked 750 rooms at MAHE Manipal hostel and BCM social welfare hostels for athletes’ accommodation.”

• Basketball: January 20 to 23 at U S Mallya Indoor Stadium
• Fencing: January 18 and 19 at U S Mallya Indoor Stadium
• Football: January 17 to 22 at Nehru Maidan
• Handball: January 21 to 23 at Mangala Stadium
• Kho Kho: January 21 to 23 at Nehru Maidan
• Netball: January 17 to 19 at Mangala Stadium
• Swimming: January 19 to 21 at Yemmekere
• Taekwondo: January 20 to 22 at State Employees Hall, Hampankatta
• Volleyball: January 20 to 23 at Mangala Stadium
• Weightlifting: January 17 to 19 at Ambedkar Bhavan, Urwa Store
• Wushu: January 17 and 19 at State Employees Hall, Hampankatta
