New Delhi, Jan 11: A thick blanket of fog enveloped Delhi and its neighbouring areas on Saturday morning, causing significant disruptions to flight and train services. The national capital continued to shiver under cold wave conditions, compounded by the foggy weather.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms and rain in Delhi on Saturday, predicting a further drop of at least three degrees in the maximum temperature. The sky is expected to remain overcast throughout the day.
Operations at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) were heavily impacted, with over 100 flights delayed. Authorities at IGI Airport have advised passengers to check with their respective airlines for updates on flight schedules.
Train services were also thrown off schedule, with several major routes reporting delays due to the adverse weather conditions.
While Delhi experienced a marginal rise in the minimum temperature on Friday morning, reaching 11°C, the relief was attributed to an active western disturbance. Despite this, the overall cold wave conditions continue to persist, impacting daily life in the region.
Travelers are advised to plan ahead and stay updated on weather-related disruptions.
