Mangaluru: Woman dies after falling into Maravoor river

Mangaluru, Jan 12: In a tragic incident near the Maravoor bridge in the city, a woman fell into the river and lost her life on Sunday, January 12 morning.

The deceased has been identified as Revathi (60), a resident of Kunjathbail.

On Sunday morning, between 7:30 am and 8:30 am, Revathi had left her house to visit a shop. For reasons unknown, she ended up near the Maravoor bridge and approached the river. Police suspect that she might have accidentally fallen into the river, leading to her death.

Locals who noticed her body in the river informed the police. Kavoor police arrived at the scene for investigation. Meanwhile, her family, searching for her after she did not return home from the shop, arrived at the location. Upon seeing the body, her son identified it as that of his mother.

The body was subsequently sent to a private hospital in the city for postmortem and documentation. Based on a complaint filed by Revathi’s son, the Kavoor police have registered a case of accidental death.
