Udupi, Jan 12: "I have not demanded the KPCC president post. However, if the party offers it to me, I am ready to accept it. I am also willing to relinquish my ministerial duties if needed to take on the responsibility," said state co-operation minister K N Rajanna in Udupi.

Speaking with media during his visit to the district, Rajanna expressing his willingness to head the KPCC said, "There is no question of formally applying or seeking the position. I am here, my party is here, and the high command is here. There is no need for unnecessary speculation or discussions."

Reacting to KPCC president D K Shivakumar’s recent statement, Rajanna said, "He has expressed his opinion; there is nothing wrong in that. We need the support of 113 MLAs to form the government, and I am sure he is well aware of that. Why should I comment on his statement? My focus is on building trust among all communities and strengthening the party. The goal is to instill confidence among all communities. If I aspire for the KPCC president's post, it is with the intention of strengthening the party, not for personal gains. However, I have not insisted on this position," he clarified.

He further elaborated on the importance of empowering party workers during elections. "In Assembly and Parliamentary elections, leadership is crucial, but grassroots elections like Gram Panchayat, Zilla Panchayat, and Taluk Panchayat revolve around party workers. These elections must focus on empowering our workers, which will ultimately benefit the Congress in upcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. Empowered and motivated workers will work with enthusiasm for the party."

Addressing factional politics within the party, Rajanna remarked, "Factionalism exists in every political party, be it BJP, Congress, or JD(S). It has been part of the Congress since its inception in 1880. In a democracy, factionalism can sometimes be beneficial, as it encourages power-sharing and healthy competition."

When asked about power-sharing arrangements within the Congress, Rajanna stated, "I am not aware of any power-sharing agreements. That is a matter for the High Command to decide. Ultimately, the final decision rests with them. I am committed to the Congress party and will fulfill my responsibilities under the leadership of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah."
