Bengaluru, Jan 12: Blaming “jehadis” for those who had allegedly chopped off udders of cows, BJP opposition leader R Ashoka on Sunday warned that “Black Sankranti” will be celebrated all over the State.

Speaking to media persons at Chamarajpet in Bengaluru, he said cows are revered all over the country as sacred, especially during Sankranti festival.

“The Congress government is burdening the people with price rise,” he said pointing out that cutting udders of cows is another gift from the State.

Terming the cutting of udders of cows as “Jehadi mindset,” Ashoka said he had never seen such tendency.

The senior BJP leader said Chamarajpet has a veterinary hospital for over hundred years and attempts were made to include the land the Wakf Board. The move faced public protests and court intervention was sought. During the protest, cows were shown. Now, the udders of cows have been cut using daggers and knives besides chopping off legs of cows.

The Congress leaders are going to temples for votes but none of the leaders have any concern for Hindu religion. The Congress leaders are silent even after the dastardly acts of Jehadis, he said and warned that “Black Sankranti” will be observed if the government does not take stern action.

Ashoka alleged that CCTV Cameras installed in the area are being removed and the people who participated in the protests are being threatened.

“One of the cow used to give 20 litres of milk a day. The lives of other cows are also endangered. We will help those engaged in animal husbandry. The government should also help them,” he demanded.

The BJP leader alleged that drugs trade is going on in Chamarajpet and the government is not taking action, he said.

'Cutting udders of cows inhuman': Bommai

Meanwhile, BJP Haveri MP and former chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai termed the action of cutting udders of cows in Chamarajpet as “inhuman” and said it was highly condemnable.

"For us, who revere the cow as a mother, this act has caused immense anguish. Such an inhuman act committed in the state's capital during the harvest festival of Makara Sankranti clearly shows that there is no fear of the government among these miscreants,” he said.

Criticising the Congress government, he said, "The state government’s failure to provide proper protection to cows and neglect in funding cow shelters have encouraged such heinous crimes."

Bommai said: "No one with a conscience can forgive such acts of cruelty against mute animals. If this government has even a shred of respect for the sacred cow, it must immediately identify and arrest the culprits behind this despicable act and take appropriate action against them. The injured cows must also be given proper treatment."
