Udupi, Jan 13: Adani owned Adani Power Limited Udupi TPP, in hands with its CSR wing Adani Foundation, initiated construction of public market complex at Uchila in Kapu Taluk, involving the project cost of Rs 17 lac, under the Community Infrastructure Development programme of Adani CSR. Shivakumar Mendon, president of Bada gram panchayat and Kishore Alva, executive director & president of Adani Group performed Bhumi Pooja at the construction site.
The residents of Bada gram panchayat and surrounding villages had submitted a request to the Bada gram panchayat regarding the need for a well-equipped market complex for the convenience of the public and fruit and vegetable vendors. Honoring the request of residents, Bada Grama Panchayat has identified the land near service road at NH 66 at Uchila and the panchayat members have unanimously decided to include the project in the annual CSR action plan of Adani CSR and submitted to Adani Foundation for execution.
Kishore Alva, president of Adani Group, who performed the Guddali Puja, praised the inclusion of project of construction of a well-equipped market in the action plan of the Bada gram panchayat. Alva said that the market complex will benefit the people as well as the vendors and the market is an important component of an economic system. He said that market plays an important role in development, job creation and economic progress of society. Adani Power Limited Udupi TPP under its CSR activity has earmarked a grant of Rs 3 cr to Bada gram panchayat exclusively for infrastructure development and the grant is being utilized year on year based on the action plan submitted by GP, Alva said. He also informed that as on date, Adani Foundation has executed the infrastructure development works worth Rs 1.19 cr in Bada GP limits in addition to the other CSR initiatives in the field of education, health, sustainable livelihood, social forestation and promotion of rural sports.
Later, Bada gram panchayat president Shivakumar Mendon said that the much-demanded market building work, which had been stalled for several years due to court litigation, has now been launched with new energy after gaining the public's trust. He said that he is happy that the work is being executed by Adani Group under its CSR programme.
On this occasion, Bada gram panchayat vice president Deepak Yermal, members Ramesh Anchan, Chandrashekhar Kotan, Hariprasad, Indira Shetty, Mohini, Kalavati, Nirmala Rakesh, taluk Panchayat vice president U Shekkabba, panchayat development officer Satish, Adani Power Limited’s AGM Ravi R Jere, Anudeep from Adani Foundation were present.
