Mangaluru, Jan 15: Chief minister (CM) Siddaramaiah will inaugurate the Bahusamskruthi Utsava and State Games 2025 on January 17 at Town Hall and Mangala Stadium, respectively.
The Bahusamskruthi Utsava, organized as part of the Karnataka Suvarna Sambhrama celebrations, will be held at Town Hall on January 17. The event is a joint effort by the Kannada and Culture Department, along with the Tulu, Beary, Konkani, Arebashe, Kodava, and Yakshagana Academies, in association with the district administrations of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Kodagu.
CM Siddaramaiah will inaugurate the programme in the presence of deputy chief minister D K Shivakumar, Speaker U T Khader, chief minister’s legal advisor A S Ponnanna, district In-charge minister Dinesh Gundu Rao, ministers Laxmi Hebbalkar, N S Bosaraju, and Shivaraj S Thangadagi, opposition leader R Ashoka, MPs Capt Brijesh Chowta, Kota Srinivas Poojary, and Yaduveer Chamaraj Wadiyar, and MLAs Vedavyas Kamath, Dr Bharath Y. Shetty, Umanath Kotian, Harish Poonja, Rajesh Naik, Bhagirathi Murulya, and Sunil Kumar, and other dignitaries.
A vibrant procession will mark the beginning of the Utsava. It will be inaugurated by Speaker U T Khader on January 17 at 4 PM, starting from Sharada Vidyalaya and concluding at Town Hall.
State Games 2025
The State Games 2025, also commencing on January 17, will be inaugurated by CM Siddaramaiah at Mangala Stadium. The event will run until January 23.
The games will feature 25 events across Mangaluru, Udupi, Manipal, and Bengaluru. Mangaluru will host 12 events, Udupi 8, Manipal 3, and Bengaluru 2. A total of 3,247 athletes will compete for 631 gold, 631 silver, and 827 bronze medals in both the men's and women's categories.
Events in Mangaluru include badminton, basketball, fencing, football, handball, kho-kho, netball, swimming, volleyball, weightlifting, wushu, and taekwondo. Udupi and Manipal will host archery, athletics, boxing, cycling, judo, kabaddi, wrestling, kayaking, canoeing, hockey, lawn tennis, and table tennis. Gymnastics and shooting events will be held in Bengaluru.
