Kundapur, Jan 16: A woman ended her life by jumping into a river after completing the registration process for newly purchased land. The incident occurred near Balkur within the jurisdiction of Kundapur rural police station.

The deceased has been identified as Shruti (33), a resident of Balkur and wife of Vinay Bhandary, who runs a hair salon near Panaka Katte.

Shruti, belonging to a Brahmin family from Saligrama, had an inter-caste marriage with Vinay during their college days. The couple resided near Balkur and had recently purchased land in Balkur. They completed the registration process on Wednesday before the tragedy.

Later in the day, Shruti rode her scooter to the riverside near Balkur, parked her vehicle, and reportedly jumped into the river. Locals informed the police, who conducted search operations. By Wednesday evening, her body was recovered and sent to the mortuary in Kundapur. A case has been registered at Kundapur rural police station.

While the exact reason for her suicide remains unclear, speculations include financial fraud related to the land deal. Additionally, reports suggest that the couple's relationship had been strained in recent days. Shruti is survived by a daughter who is currently in her 10th grade.
