Udupi, Jan 16: The Udupi District Working Journalists’ Association has been selected for the prestigious state-level Best Association Award by the Karnataka State Working Journalists’ Association.
Speaking at a press conference held at the Udupi Press Club on January 16, Rajesh Shetty, president of the Udupi District Working Journalists’ Association, stated, “The association was chosen for this award in recognition of its silver jubilee celebration and continuous, outstanding activities conducted in 2024. The award will be presented at the 39th State Journalists’ conference scheduled to be held in Tumkur on January 18 and 19.”
In 2024, the Udupi District Journalists’ Association successfully organized several activities, including the initiation of a welfare fund for journalists, interactive sessions, foundation day celebrations, election workshops, social responsibility programs, press day celebrations, public awareness campaigns, inauguration of a library, an annual tour, and the silver jubilee sports festival.
Additionally, the association received the Udupi District Rajyotsava Award in 2024. The Udupi team also won the overall championship at the state-level journalists' sports meet organized by the Karnataka State Working Journalists’ Association in Tumkur. These achievements contributed to the association being honoured with the Best Association Award.
Hariprasad Nandalike from Karkala, a member of the Udupi District Journalists’ Association, has been selected for the annual R L Vasudeva Rao Award for the Best Forest Report, presented by the Karnataka State Working Journalists’ Association.
The 39th State Journalists’ Conference, hosted by the Karnataka State Working Journalists’ Association in collaboration with the Tumkur district branch, will be held in Tumkur on January 18 and 19. The conference will commence on January 18 at 8.30 am with a procession inaugurated by Home Minister Dr Parameshwar.
At 11 am, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will inaugurate the event at the venue set up on the premises of Siddhartha Technical University in the divine presence of Siddalinga Swamiji of Siddaganga Math. The event will be presided over by the association’s state president, T V Shivananda Tagadooru.
Over two days, the conference will feature significant discussions and seminars related to journalism. The event will also include a meeting of representatives from the Working Journalists’ Association and the presentation of the Kalpataru Award.
Udupi District Working Journalists’ Association general secretary Nazeer Polya and treasurer Umesh Marpalli were present at the press conference.
