Kerala nurse wins Rs 71 crore lottery in Bahrain, fulfils mother’s dreams

Bahrain, Jan 17: A life-altering twist of fate has struck Manu Mohanan, a 36-year-old ambulance nurse from Kerala, who has just bagged an eye-watering Rs 71 crore (30 million Bahraini Dinar) in the Big Ticket lottery.

Raised by his tireless single mother after his father abandoned them, Manu's early years were marked by hardship. His mother worked relentlessly, even hauling bricks and stones, to ensure he received a good education. But financial struggles followed Manu into adulthood, especially after moving to Bahrain in search of better prospects.

For five years, Manu and 16 friends pooled their money to buy lottery tickets, often sacrificing personal expenses to fund their dream. After a brief hiatus, they resumed purchasing tickets five months ago, and it paid off handsomely.

Manu was on duty when the call came, informing him of the jackpot win. Overcome with emotion, he shared the good news with his friends, who were equally ecstatic. The group now plans to use the winnings to clear debts, build homes, and secure their families' futures.

“My mother sacrificed everything for me. She deserves to live comfortably now,” said Manu, who is determined to fulfil his mother’s lifelong dreams.

His mother, who recently travelled to Bahrain to help care for his newborn, will now see her hard work and sacrifices finally rewarded. Manu’s win is not just about money; it’s a tale of perseverance, solidarity, and triumph against the odds.
