Fog Hits Rail, Air Traffic in Delhi


New Delhi, Jan 3 (IANS): Rail and air services were affected in the capital Tuesday morning due to the heavy fog that enveloped the city.

According to the Northern Railway website, 57 trains were affected -- 27 were cancelled while 30 were running late by more than an hour as the visibility dropped to 200 metres at 8.30 a.m.

On Monday, 20 flights were delayed due to fog while six were delayed due to bad weather at the destination and another 150 due to operational reasons, a Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) statement said.

Tuesday's minimum temperature settled a notch above average at 7.9 degrees Celsius with the met office forecasting a foggy day in store. The maximum temperature is expected to hover round 19 degrees Celsius.

Monday's minimum temperature was recorded at 11.6 degrees Celsius, five degrees above normal, while the maximum settled at 19.7 degrees Celsius.
