Bidar/Bengaluru, Jan 19: The culprits behind the daring daylight robbery of Rs 93 lac from bank staff in Bidar have finally been identified.
The suspects, identified as Manish from Chhattisgarh and an accomplice, are said to be linked to the Amit gang, a notorious gang from Bihar.
In the incident, the culprits shot at the bank staff and fled with Rs 93 lac. Fearing capture on highways, they took rural routes to escape to Telangana. The well-planned route saw them exiting Bidar city and entering Hyderabad via Telangana’s Zaheerabad taluk.
After leaving Bidar, they packed the stolen cash into a trolley bag. The duo reportedly had a scuffle with a travel agency in Afzalpur while trying to hire an auto to head north. Before the altercation, they were seen dining at the Dose King Hotel in Afzalgunj. CCTV footage from the hotel captured them carrying the trolley bag.
The suspects are believed to have changed clothes at the hotel, as footage later showed them wearing different attire. While riding a bike, one of them was seen wearing a jacket, which was changed later. They were also captured on CCTV dragging the trolley bag in Hyderabad. It is suspected they boarded a train from Secunderabad to North India.
ADGP of the Crime Division, Harishekaran, stated that eight teams from Karnataka, Telangana, and Maharashtra are actively searching for the suspects. He assured that their identities have been confirmed and they will be arrested soon.
Following the Bidar and Mangaluru robbery cases, high alert has been declared across Karnataka, including Bengaluru and Hubballi.
